School Spirit Runs Deep
Tom and Barbara Hallberg remember their first basketball game in 2002. "The whole place would shake," says Tom, "you could just feel the camaraderie." That camaraderie has only intensified over the years. The Hallbergs are active members of the Cougar Club and they rarely miss a basketball game, even travelling with the team to away games.
"Just being around the student-athletes and the challenges they face has been really special for us," says Barbara, adding that she and Tom have been impressed with the work of the College's Student- Athlete Academic Services. It provides academic counseling, tutoring, study hall and other academic resources for all student-athletes.
Delivering individualized attention to each student-athlete was the reason the Hallbergs created an estate gift to establish the Barbara S. and H. Thomas Hallberg Student-Athlete Services Support Fund.
"Our ultimate goal is to see every student-athlete cross the Cistern stage. Every single one," says Barbara. And the Hallbergs' estate gift will ensure that for generations of student-athletes to come.
